Nuestro Mundo Public Charter School is Hiring an Elementary Special Education Teacher Near Providence, RI

Overview: The mission of Nuestro Mundo is to prepare students to be global citizens and stewards of our environment. Using a multilingual and multicultural lens, our students have the knowledge and skills to realize empathy and connect their learning to the community and with a larger global audience. We are seeking exceptional candidates committed to multilingual and multicultural learners and their success. The school features a two-way immersion program, with 50% of content being taught in Spanish and 50% being taught in English therefore candidates should be knowledgeable of the tenants of dual language education. Candidates should also be passionate about environmental education and project based learning, as the curriculum will emphasize interactive, hands-on, project-based learning that nurtures students’ engagement and motivation for life-long learning. RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Assesses, supervises or approves the educational needs of the studentPrepares and implements daily lesson plans consistent with evaluations and/or IEP’s and overall education plan in an inclusion model.Write, review and update lesson plans to reflect all major areas of instruction appropriate to the academic level of each student.Responsible for IEP preparation and presentation.Assists other team members in interpreting evaluation of findings.Participates actively in departmental staff meetings.Suggests improvements in department functions as it relates to the educational services.Shares expertise and provides support to other educational staff members.Performs a variety of other related duties requested by the department or the school, and complies with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree (required); Master’s Degree preferredCurrent Rhode Island Teaching Certification/Licensure in Special Education (required)Able to meet the expectations of the Rhode Island Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching PracticeAbility to write an effective IEPs with SMART goals and sensible accommodations, using district softwareAbility to administer, interpret, and report findings from standardized and informal evaluationsBilingual (English/Spanish)Safety Care Training Certification (District will provide training)Current authorization to work in the United States
